Belgian international and Leicester City star Dennis Praet has shed light on his decision to reject a move to Arsenal earlier in his career.
Speaking to the Guardian before the Foxes’ win over Tottenham this weekend, Praet revealed that he rejected a move to Arsenal that could have seen him “earn a lot more money”.
We went to visit Arsenal, Lille, Ajax and Anderlecht. Arsenal would have been a really nice step and I could earn a lot more money there than in Anderlecht, but at that moment my education was not finished and that was really important for me – there was no insurance that I would become a good football player.
Would Praet have been a good addition to the club?

Given the stage of his career that Praet was in at the time, it looks like this was the right move for him in the long-term.
If nothing else, it is refreshing to see a young footballer make a wise decision, rather than just following the money.
Of course, it comes as a blow to see yet another international player declare that he could’ve joined the Gunners. It has become something of a running joke among rival supporters to see the sheer number of players who the club have passed up on signing over the years.
Praet is a player who has long threatened to break through in Europe and after impressing in Italy, he has finally secured a move to the Premier League.
Since joining, he has been on the fringes of the Leicester squad as James Maddison takes all the plaudits.
While he would undoubtedly be a good addition to the squad, the club don’t appear to have missed out massively at this stage. Never the less, you can imagine they’ll be watching his development with some interest this season after seeing the player finally make the move to England.
