Nketiah winning Leeds’ loanee battle with Spurs considering Clarke recall

Eddie Nketiah has become a firm fan favourite with the Leeds United faithful after joining on a season-long loan from Arsenal on deadline day.

The striker became the Whites’ sixth and final senior arrival of the summer and has quickly got to grips with life at Elland Road by scoring four times in his first six appearances, averaging a goal every 62 minutes.

Nketiah’s excellent form has kept new Tottenham man Jack Clarke out of the picture in Yorkshire.

The 18-year-old completed a £10 million switch to Spurs before heading back to Leeds for the season, however, with only five loanees allowed in a matchday squad, Clarke has been the man left out of the 18 on a regular basis.

Clarke is now growing frustrated with boss Marcelo Bielsa, and Spurs are now considering whether or not to recall the winger in the new year.

It’s always nice to get one over on your rivals, and knowing that Spurs officials will be tearing their hair out at Clarke’s lack of game time with the Whites will certainly go down well with Arsenal fans.

That’s all thanks to Nketiah and his goalscoring prowess. The 20-year-old is yet to start a Championship game, but after making multiple impact cameos from the bench, it only seems like it is a matter of time until Bielsa starts the Arsenal man ahead of current first-choice forward, Patrick Bamford.
