Arsenal have confirmed that Sokratis & Mesut Ozil will both miss tonight’s game against Frankfurt.
Unai Emery has been explaining his decision, as cited on social media by @afcstuff, revealing that he wants to rest the German after he featured against Watford on Sunday.
Sokratis & Mesut, they rest for this match [against Frankfurt]. I prefer [for Ozil] after Sunday’s match to rest, to train, to be ready for Sunday.
After hearing the news, these Arsenal fans on Twitter have been left confused by Emery’s reasoning.

It was an interesting statement from Emery to say the least.
It would be easy to judge this one too quickly, but Emery is clearly looking to manage Ozil carefully. This could be a sign that he is going to play an increasingly important role in the side going forward.
Arsenal will still feel like they have sufficient quality without the German in their side and fans will hope to see Ozil line up against Aston Villa at the weekend.
The trip to Frankfurt won’t be easy by any means but tougher games in Europe will come that is for sure, so Emery appears reluctant to overdo Ozil at this stage. Only time will tell if this was the right decision.
