Bernd Leno has been Unai Emery’s first-choice shot-stopper since his arrival last summer, and his latest comments will more than likely further his popularity with the Gunners faithful.

The 27-year-old cost around £22 million and has made 40 appearances for the club so far.

Even though the German made an early mistake against Tottenham prior to the international break, he made several key stops during the Emirates encounter, helping the Gunners avoid defeat against their fiercest rivals.

And now, talking to German outlet SportBild, cited by Sports Witness, Leno has hit out at both Spurs and fellow London side Chelsea by claiming Arsenal is ‘the club’ in London.

When asked about the difference between former side Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal, Leno said:

You can’t compare that, of course Arsenal is a world club, THE club here in London. Not Chelsea, not Tottenham – Arsenal is the club here with fans around the world.

No matter where we are, also in the USA or in Asia, there are many fans of Arsenal everywhere.

Leno’s comments will surely go down well with almost every Arsenal supporter, and it’s brilliant to see a Gunners star throwing some shade at rival sides while on international duty.

The German’s passion for the club is clear to see both on and off the pitch, and his celebrations for almost every Arsenal strike are brilliant.

More comments like these will definitely earn respect from the Arsenal faithful and will quickly turn him into a cult hero at the Emirates.
