It’s not often you will find a former Tottenham star praising one of Arsenal’s players, but Darren Bent has done exactly that with his recent comments about Matteo Guendouzi.
The ex-England striker heaped the praise on the Frenchman, explaining that he could be the man to lead Arsenal’s midfield for the next decade.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said:
He’s playing like he’s someone who’s played for Arsenal for years. It’s scary that he’s only 20, he could be in the Arsenal midfield for the next 10 years, he’s really good in that role.
The positive claims from a former Spurs man may have caught fans off guard, but judging by the reactions of these supporters online, many are in agreement.

Guendouzi has been enjoying a fantastic start to the new season, one that recently resulted in his first senior call-up to the French squad.
It came after a dominate performance against Bent’s former side in the North London derby.
Arsenal fans will now want to see some consistency from Guendouzi and see more of the player that they witnessed during the derby prior to the international break.
If Arsenal can manage him carefully over the next few years, there is no reason why he cannot be a mainstay in the team.
Loyalty in the modern game has become an increasing problem for clubs and Arsenal will need to be aware that the player will attract interest from the very best if he can reach the levels that Bent is tipping him to.
