Arsenal fans hoping to see more of Martinelli following international break

Arsenal fans hoping to see more of Martinelli following international break

Arsenal’s first summer signing, Gabriel Martinelli, has featured in just seven minutes of competitive action this season after joining from Brazilian club Ituano.

The 18-year-old wide man cost the Gunners an initial €7.5 million fee after bursting onto the scene aged just 16, and after featuring against Newcastle, has since found it hard to break into Unai Emery’s side.

Martinelli scored 10 times in 34 appearances before making the switch to the Emirates, and many supporters have high hopes for the teenager.

And it appears as if many fans now want to see the player handed more first-team opportunities after Henrikh Mkhitaryan completed a late loan move to AS Roma.

Arsenal fan page @AFTVMedia recently asked their followers which attacking youngster they’d like to see more of. There were plenty of responses from the Gunners faithful, with an overwhelming call for the Brazilian to be handed more opportunities.

Martinelli is an exciting prospect Arsenal fans should keep a close eye on, but don’t be surprised if Emery continues to limit his game time.

The Brazilian will more than likely turn out in the Gunners’ Carabao Cup and Europa League campaigns over the coming months, however, he’ll probably struggle for minutes in the Premier League.

If he can impress the Spaniard in Arsenal’s respective cup fixtures, he could well stake a claim for a starting spot in the league.
