# Arsenal join race for Roma winger Cengiz Under – would he be a good signing?

Arsenal secured the services of wide men Gabriel Martinelli and Nicolas Pepe over the summer, but it appears as if Unai Emery is continuing to look at more wide targets.

According to reliable outlet [Turkish Futbol, cited by LTArsenal](https://twitter.com/ltarsenal/status/1169578017716178945), the Gunners, along with rivals Tottenham Hotspur and German giants Bayern Munich, are tracking AS Roma winger Cengiz Under ahead of a potential move.

The 22-year-old has been briefly linked with a move to the Emirates over the past 18 months, but would he be a good addition to Emery’s squad?

It seems a strange rumour following Arsenal’s recent transfer activity.

The Gunners now have plenty of attacking talent within the squad, and following Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s season-long loan move to AS Roma, Emery looks set to hand numerous Arsenal youngsters the opportunity to stake their claims for a spot in the side.

The likes of Martinelli, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka may all now find themselves in with a shot of becoming a regular in the Gunners’ matchday squad, so it would be strange to bring in Under.

Even though the Turkish star has enjoyed a brilliant few months for both club and country, we think Arsenal would be better of strengthening their defensive ranks come January.

Only time will tell on how serious Arsenal’s interest actually is, but allowing rivals Spurs to battle Bayern for Under’s services shouldn’t be too much of a worry for the Gunners.
