“Would be insane” – Arsenal fans react after Harvetz drops transfer hint

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United were all interested in Kai Havertz’s services this summer after his stellar campaign for Bayer Leverkusen last season.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder scored 17 times in 34 Bundesliga appearances, and despite plenty of interest from the three Premier League giants and other European heavyweights, remained with Bayer Leverkusen.

Havertz has now given his thoughts on his next move, with many expecting the German to complete a big-money switch away from Leverkusen in the near future.

Talking to Sky Germany, as reported by the Metro, Havertz said:

They haven’t scared me off. I don’t know exactly what it was like with Timo [Werner], but it just didn’t happen for me this year. I think there were a number of reasons why. But I’m happy to be here and stay in Leverkusen for another year. We’ll see what will happens next summer.

And these Arsenal fans were quick to hear of the youngster’s comments through @LTArsenal, with plenty of supporters excited at the prospect of potentially seeing the German make the move to the Emirates.

@RAS_afc: I know this is pure speculation but this kid could be the real deal genuinely hope we can get him especially with Ceballos being temporary and Ozil being Ozil.

@Merci_Arsene: Would be an elite signing.

@AfcNas: Raul can get him if he wants to. Perfect Ozil replacement. Would be an insane signing, continue to top our other big signings each window.

@DF_Arsenal: If he wants a similar path to Özil then he shouldn’t waste his time on Madrid and just come directly to Arsenal.

Havertz is regarded by many as one of the best young players in Europe following his brilliant individual campaign last year.

The 20-year-old has been tipped as a perfect Arsenal player, and it’s easy to see why. He’s quick, athletic and technically gifted with his range of passing and eye for goal, with many comparing him to current Gunners star Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal would have to cough up a huge fee for the attacking midfielder, and after spending £72 million on Nicolas Pepe, the Gunners could be cautious of splashing the cash once again in January.
