Darren Bent joins fans in urging Marcelo Bielsa to start Eddie Nketiah

Eddie Nketiah has enjoyed a productive start to his Leeds United career.

The 20-year-old, who made the move to Elland Road on a season-long loan on deadline day last month, has struck three times for the Whites so far.

The highly-rated Arsenal man has only started on two occasions, both of which came in the Carabao Cup.

And now, these Leeds fans, along with one Arsenal supporter have called for boss Marcelo Bielsa to give Nketiah the nod following the international break.

Former England striker Darren Bent, talking to Football Insider, has also joined the supporters in urging Bielsa to start Nketiah.

When asked about the possibility of bringing Nketiah and Helder Costa into the side, Bent said:

They’re definitely going to be knocking on his door and they’re going to be asking questions sooner or later.

What you don’t want to happen is, yeah, they want to play but they’re not using them enough, they lose their heads and mentally, they’re gone.

When they do get the opportunity, they’re not ready for it. He needs to have a look at it, give one or two of them the opportunity after the international break and start again.

You don’t want to get to the point where you’ve got Helder Costa and Eddie Nketiah going: ‘When am I going to play, when am I going to play?’ that eventually their heads are gone when they do get the opportunity.

Following Patrick Bamford’s average performance against Swansea City prior to the international break, surely there’s no better time to hand Nketiah a first league start?

Nketiah has showcased his obvious talents in the few opportunities he has been handed by the Argentine, and it would be bizarre to keep a player of his quality on the bench for much longer.

Arsenal will also be growing frustrated by the lack of starts Nketiah has been given so far, but they would have known about Bielsa’s meticulous ways before sending the striker to Yorkshire.

A start in the Yorkshire derby away to Barnsley would give Nketiah the chance to further his case a fan favourite at Elland Road, and a positive performance would give the striker added confidence.
