Lucas Torreira’s early season form has been a major talking point among the Arsenal fan base.
A number of supporters have taken to social media to question the form of the South American midfielder, but it has raised a debated about whether or not the problem could, in fact, lie within the dugout.
Torreira has made three appearances for Arsenal this season, but Sunday’s North London derby was his first start.
Judging by these reactions on Twitter, a lot of fans are pointing the blame towards Unai Emery’s tactics.

Torreira has a history of playing in a more defensive midfield role for his country and that appears to be what Arsenal fans want to see in order to bring the best out of him in North London.
Since making the move from Sampdoria, Torreira has shown flashes of brilliance but has struggled to really nail down a regular place in the Arsenal side.
Not helped by injuries and Emery’s tendency to rotate, you get the impression that the club are yet to pinpoint where best to utilise Torreira in their midfield.
By moving Torreira into a lone defensive midfield role, Emery has two options that could be key. Either move into a diamond, which didn’t work to great effect against Liverpool, or bring in a player like Mesut Ozil or Dani Ceballos to provide extra creativity.
Both come with an element of risk but after a mixed start to the campaign, it looks like Arsenal supporters are ready for Emery to take that risk.
