# Arsenal fans back Bernd Leno following Spurs performance

Bernd Leno’s costly mistake early on against Tottenham allowed Christian Eriksen to put Spurs 1-0 up in the North London derby.

A tame effort from Erik Lamela wasn’t dealt with by the German, who failed to tip it out for a corner, leaving Eriksen with an empty net to give Mauricio Pochettino’s side the lead.

Strikes from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang earnt the Gunners a point in. the end, however, Leno’s ability to produce a brilliant performance following an early mistake has led for plenty of praise.

### Read Arsenal verdict

Despite his costly error, Leno has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers under Unai Emery.

The German’s shot-stopping ability is usually faultless, and it’s good to see the Arsenal faithful getting behind the ‘keeper following his rare mistake.

Leno kept the Gunners in the game on Sunday with some crucial stops, and there’s no doubt he’ll do that again across the campaign.
