Collymore tips Leicester to finish above Arsenal – is his logic flawed?

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has tipped Leicester to finish above Arsenal and break into the top four this season.

In his column for The Mirror, Collymore praised the goalscoring talents of English forward Jamie Vardy – who found the back of the net twice in Leicester’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth at the weekend – and said that he would be able to fire them above the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Is his logic for having Leicester to finish above Arsenal flawed?

His point appears to be that Vardy’s goals will be able to propel them into the Champions League places, but Arsenal have one of the most potent strikeforces in the Premier League.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored 22 league goals for Arsenal last season, sharing the Golden Boot with Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, whilst Alex Lacazette scored 19 goals in all competitions and already has two in the division this term.

Add the fact that Arsenal’s summer signing Nicolas Pepe scored 22 league goals for Lille last season and it becomes evidently clear that Leicester do not trump the Gunners when it comes to firepower at the top end of the pitch and that is unlikely to be a reason for Leicester finishing above them in the table.
