After his reckless tackle to give away a penalty in the first half of the North London derby, Granit Xhaka came in for plenty of criticism.
None more so than from Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, who was left gobsmacked by the naivety of the Swiss midfielder.
As cited on social media by @afcstuff, Neville couldn’t believe what he was seeing in such a crucial game.
It’s absolute madness from Xhaka. He does it week in, week out, season after season. He doesn’t seem to learn.
Neville may not have always been a popular figure among Arsenal supporters, but judging by these reactions online, a lot them tend to agree with the former Manchester United man.

Twitter: @Makaveli2B @afcstuff Xhaka does this far too much, gives away stupid fouls and gets booked every other game, it’s an absolute joke (@David_Mayes1)
Twitter: @afcstuff When you have the experience but you decide not to use it?? (@Domino_Suo)

Read Arsenal verdict
It was a moment of madness from Xhaka in such a high-pressured game and it’s hard to know what exactly he was thinking.
The biggest concern among Arsenal supporters is that this wasn’t the first time something of this magnitude has happened involving Xhaka and it probably won’t be the last.
When supporters are expecting a mistake it can feed into a nervous atmosphere that surrounds the club and with time that will transmit onto the pitch.
As the captain, he should be a figurehead during games, not somebody that fans need to worry about keeping their cool at the right moment.
