# These Arsenal fans are demanding that Lucas Torreira starts against Spurs

Lucas Torreira was unfortunate to miss out on last weekend’s game at Anfield and now a number of fans want him to start in the North London derby.

Unai Emery opted for a midfield consisting of Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi, Joe Willock and Dani Ceballos against Jurgen Klopp’s side, but that could well change against their London rivals.

It was a selection that backfired as the Gunners lacked that any serious defensive protection in front of the back four.

Now, judging by these reactions on Twitter, fans want to see him given a start, especially after his impressive performance against Tottenham at the Emirates last season.

A lot of Arsenal supporters want to see Torreira given a chance agianst Spurs and it’s easy to see why.

He gives the Gunners that added dynamism in midfield that they were lacking against Liverpool.

After coming off the bench at Anfield, the South American midfielder scored a consolation goal and [boasted](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1375966/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Liverpool-Arsenal) a 92% pass success rate – making himself one of only a few bright sparks for the Gunners during the 3-1 defeat.

Both Matteo Guendouzi and Joe Willock have both performed admirably in the first few games of the season, but neither provide both the energy and defensive protection that Torreira offers.
