Bent tips Leeds to sign Nketiah permanently – do they have a chance?

Eddie Nketiah continued his brilliant form for Leeds United with another goal on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old netted just after the hour mark to begin the Whites’ comeback against Stoke City, with the forward also slotting home his spot-kick in the penalty shootout.

Unfortunately for Leeds and Nketiah, they crashed out of the Carabao Cup, with Nketiah now hoping to break into Marcelo Bielsa’s immediate first-team Championship plans.

The dynamic striker is currently on a season-long loan in Yorkshire, with over 25 clubs showing an interest in the player over the summer.

And former England striker Darren Bent has admitted Nketiah could well make the move to Leeds on a permanent basis.

Talking exclusively to Football Insider, Bent said:

If he gets a certain amount of games, he will score goals.

If he’s not going to get the opportunities at Arsenal, you never know (about a permanent move), if he impresses at Leeds and gets them up, you never know. I believe he can score goals at the highest level.

If he continues his prolific goalscoring form for the Whites this season, it won’t be long until he receives a first-team chance under Unai Emery.

Even though the Gunners currently have the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe in attack, the club have shown in the past that they are happy to hand young stars the chance to shine in the senior side.

Nketiah has already had a brief taste of what senior life at Arsenal could be like, and we don’t think that Leeds would have a chance of signing the striker next summer.

If he plays a key role in getting the Whites back to the Premier League, a future move to Elland Road could well be on the cards, but for now, Arsenal will definitely have him in their first-team plans over the coming years.
