Arsenal will be hoping to use their early-season momentum when they face a tough challenge against Liverpool away at Anfield on Saturday.
Unai Emery’s men have won both their league games so far and have looked good going forward. Even though it’s early in the season, they are the only other team, along with Liverpool, to have maximum points until now.
However, if we look back at the history of this fixture, the Gunners’ fans would want to look away.
Hence, any result other than a defeat would be considered as a massive positive ahead of next week’s North London Derby.
In terms of team news, Mesut Ozil, Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding are back in full training, which is good news for the team.
New signing Kieran Tierney is out until the start of October. Same is the case with Hector Bellerin.
Here’s how we think Emery may line his team up for the game against Liverpool:
GK - Bernd Leno
Having conceded only one goal in two games so far, Leno has started this season well. The Arsenal number one will be hoping for a good day against Liverpool.
RB - Ainsley Maitland-Niles
The youngster has made a bright start to the season in cthe ontinued absence of Bellerin. He is in line to keep his place in the team at right-back.
CB - Sokratis
The Greece international is probably the best centre-back in the Arsenal team at the moment. Hence, he should be first on the teamsheet for Saturday’s game.
CB - David Luiz
The new signing settled in well in his home debut against Burnley last week. However, the task against Liverpool is a tougher one and the Brazilian star will be tested to the core.
LB - Nacho Monreal
Monreal has made a steady start to this season. In the absence of Tierney, the Spaniard seems to be the go-to option ahead of Sead Kolasinac.
CDM - Granit Xhaka
After missing the game against Burnley last week, Xhaka is back in full training and should start on Saturday. His job as a defensive midfielder will be an important one at Anfield.
RCM - Matteo Guendouzi
The youngster has made a good start to the season despite very little pre-season football. His energy would be required against a Liverpool team that thrives on high-intensity football.
LCM - Dani Ceballos
The Real Madrid loanee was absolutely superb against Burnley last week. He will need to repeat that on Saturday if Arsenal are to get anything out of the clash.
RW - Nicolas Pepe
This could be the game where we see club-record signing Pepe make his full Arsenal debut. His pace on the counter could turn out to be crucial for the Gunners at Anfield.
ST - Alexandre Lacazette
The Frenchman scored a very good goal last week. His energy as a striker and finishing ability is something that needs to be right up there in order to beat the Liverpool defence.
LW - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Last season’s joint-Golden Boot winner has scored in both league games so far. He needs to use his pace on the counter and time his runs against a high-line to trouble the Liverpool defence.
