Granit Xhaka looks to be in contention for the trip to Liverpool this weekend.
The Swiss star missed the Gunners’ first home fixture of the campaign against Burnley with a leg problem, however, he has now returned to full training.
And former Arsenal striker Charlie Nicholas has urged Unai Emery to leave the midfielder out of the starting lineup on Saturday evening.
Nicholas, writing in his Sky Sports column, cited by the Daily Express, said:
I think Arsenal should play a back four with two protectors in front. I don’t want Granit Xhaka in the team, I would prefer Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi.
These Arsenal fans have also called for the 26-year-old to be kept out of the side this weekend.

We’re with these Arsenal fans and Nicholas on this one. Matteo Guendouzi and Joe Willock done an excellent job in front of the back four against Burnley and could be in contention to remain in the side this Saturday.
However, if Emery decides to make a change, Lucas Torreira would be the sensible decision to replace either Guendouzi or Willock.
The Uruguayan came on in the closing stages against the Clarets last weekend and may well be given the nod to thwart Liverpool’s attacking threat.
Emery could even decide to use three defensive-minded midfielders at Anfield with the 5-1 defeat on Merseyside last December still in his thoughts, however, keeping Xhaka out of the starting lineup appears to be what the majority of Arsenal fans want to see.
