# Bielik fires dig at Emery – should the Gunners have kept him at the club?

Krystian Bielik ended his four-year association with Arsenal in the summer by completing a £9.5 million to Championship side Derby County.

The 21-year-old only turned out on three senior occasions for the Gunners and had to make do with several spells out on loan in the Football League.

The Poland international enjoyed stints with Birmingham City and Walsall before helping Charlton Atheltic to the Championship last year.

And talking to [Polish outlet Przeglad Sportowy, cited by the Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/former-arsenal-player-aims-sly-18974149), Bielik appears to have taken a surprise dig at Unai Emery by insisting he would have received a first-team chance if Arsene Wenger was still in the Emirates dugout.

> Is leaving Arsenal my failure? No. I don’t feel that way at all.

> I know that if Arsene Wenger was still working at the club, I would get a chance.

So were Arsenal right to sell Bielik this summer?

Recieving just shy of £10 million for a player who made just three first-team appearances for the club is certainly good business.

However, the player was excellent for his country at the Under 21 European Championships over the summer, so parting ways with the youngster could come back to haunt the Gunners over time.

Bielik hasn’t exactly shone with the Rams in his three appearances this season, but a series of games in the second-tier could be extremely beneficial for the player in regards to future aspirations.
