According to Italian outlet Forza Roma, cited by The Boot Room, AS Roma are hoping to land Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

The report claims that the Serie A side would be willing to pay between €20-25 million for the German next summer, with the Gunners keen to ship the centre-back out before the window closes around Europe.

The news appears to have come as a welcome relief to plenty of Arsenal supporters, with the majority hoping a deal goes through before the end of the month.

A move to Italy could be best for all parties involved. The 27-year-old will have the chance to cement himself as a first-team regular once again, while Arsenal will be getting the defender off their wage bill for the season.

The Gunners could then end up pocketing a healthy sum if the Italian side decide to make the move permanent next year.

However, if the proposed move goes through and Roma aren’t keen on signing the player for €25 million next summer (who could blame them), Arsenal will then be left in a similar situation as to one they’ve been in this summer.

It’s a risk, but it looks as if the Gunners are just looking to offload the player at any given opportunity.

Should Arsenal agree to Roma's terms or look to sell Mustafi permanently?
