Arsenal continued their good start to the season by beating Burnley 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium and making it two wins in two league games.
Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were the scorers for the Gunners, while Ashley Barnes scored an equaliser once for the Clarets.
After a fast start from the home side, they took the lead in the 13th minute after a low corner from Dani Ceballos was turned in by Lacazette after some good work around the six-yard box under pressure from three defenders.
Burnley threatened to equalise and eventually did two minutes before half-time when a deflected Dwight McNeil shot fell into the path of Barnes, who scrapped his effort into the back of the net.
Just as when the away side were starting to take the sting out of the game in the second half, Arsenal regained the lead through Aubameyang in the 64th minute.
This came from Ceballos winning the ball in midfield and freeing the Gabon international to go on and score a very good goal.
The Gunners had other chances to kill this game off, but it remained tight and tense right till the end.
Here’s how we rated the Arsenal players after this game:
Bernd Leno - 5
Looked very shaky when crosses came into the box. Apart from that, didn’t have to do too much other than bringing the ball from the back of the net once.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles - 7
A positive performance from the youngster who was confident on the ball and stood up well when asked to defend.
Sokratis - 7
Apart from one or two uncomfortable moments, Sokratis did well to deal with the physical threat of Barnes and Chris Wood.
David Luiz - 7
A commanding debut from Luiz, who was good on the ball and read the game well defensively.
Nacho Monreal - 6
A competent performance from the left-back who wasn’t really involved all the time, but did his defensive job just about well.
Switched to back three later on.
Matteo Guendouzi - 6
Took some risks on the ball but vindicated when played out well. The youngster continues to surpass his age while on the pitch.
Joe Willock - 6
A mixed bag game for Willock who was guilty of giving the ball away at times, but redeemed himself by being good off the ball.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 8
Started on the right wing and was a live wire. Switched to the left in the second half and took his goal well to win the game for Arsenal.
Dani Ceballos - 9
What a home debut from the Real Madrid loanee!
He was confident on the ball, showed some skills, assisted two goals and worked so hard without possession as well. A MOTM performance. Subbed off later on amidst a standing ovation.
Reiss Nelson -4
The youngster struggled to really contribute to the game in the first half. Subbed off at half-time.
Alexandre Lacazette - 8
Took his goal well in the first half and was always on the move to trouble the Burnley defence. Subbed off later on in the game.
(SUB) Nicolas Pepe - 7
Came on at half-time and showed what Arsenal fans will see in the coming games/seasons.
He was direct with the ball, showed great skills and pace to trouble the Burnley defenders. The nutmeg to go past Ben Mee was sublime.
(SUB) Sead Kolasinac - 6
Came on as a left wing-back to shore up things at the back and provide an outlet going forward.
(SUB) Lucas Torreira - 5
Came on late to add more protection in midfield.
