Arsenal will be aiming to continue their winning start to the campaign when they play Burnley at the Emirates in the Saturday afternoon kick-off.
Unai Emery’s men weren’t at their best but managed to beat Newcastle United 1-0 away at St James’ Park. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was clinical with his finish after a good assist from Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
None of the new signings started on Sunday, with Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Martinelli only coming on from the bench.
With one more week of training under their belt, we can expect the likes of David Luiz, Pepe and Ceballos to start and add more firepower to this team.
In terms of team news, Kieran Tierney won’t be able to make his Arsenal debut until October. Whether or not Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac will be included in the squad remains to be seen.
Here’s how we think Emery may field his starting line-up against Burnley:
GK - Bernd Leno
The Germany international made a good start to the season by keeping a clean sheet. He will want to make it two in two against Burnley.
RB - Ainsley Maitland-Niles
The youngster was impressive against Newcastle and also assisted the only goal of the game. With Hector Bellerin still out, he is in line to start again on Saturday.
CB - Sokratis Papastathopoulos
The Greece international is probably Arsenal’s best centre-back along with David Luiz currently. Hence, he is certain to start this game.
CB - David Luiz
Signed for the club on deadline day, it was obvious that Luiz wouldn’t start on matchday one. However, with a week’s training under his belt, the former Chelsea man should start against Burnley.
LB - Nacho Monreal
With uncertainty over Kolasinac’s participation and Tierney injured, Monreal is more than likely to start on Saturday. He will hope to prove his worth.
CM - Granit Xhaka
The Swiss star was given the armband last wee. He is again in line to lead the team out against the Clarets.
CM - Matteo Guendouzi
The young midfielder began the season well with a competent performance in midfield. He should keep his place for the game on Saturday.
RW - Nicolas Pepe
After coming off the bench against Newcastle, club-record signing Pepe is in line to start ahead of Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the right-wing against Burnley.
Arsenal fans would be delighted to see him from the start!
CAM - Dani Ceballos
With Ozil’s participation still a mystery, there is a chance for Ceballos to get his first start in an Arsenal shirt. He will want to make that number 10 position his own.
LW - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
The Golden Boot winner began the season with a well-taken goal against Newcastle. With Alexandre Lacazette back fit, the Gabon international could start on the left against Burnley.
ST - Alexandre Lacazette
Lacazette is back fit and in line to start on Saturday. He will be looking to combine with other forwards and cause a lot of problems for the Burnley defence.
