Ozil and Kolasinac return to training – could they feature against Burnley?

Unai Emery has been handed a double boost ahead of the Gunners’ first home game of the season against Burnley after Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac returned to training.

According to The Mirror, cited by Caught Offside, the pair returned to action on Wednesday. Ozil and Kolasinac heroically fought off knife-wielding criminals last month and were left out of the club’s Premier League curtain-raiser at Newcastle due to security reasons.

However, with the pair back in training, could they now be in line for a surprise return this weekend?

It’s brilliant to see the pair back around the club, however, a return to action this weekend could come too soon.

Emery may well decide to stick with the same 18 who travelled to Tyneside, which could see the Spaniard hand full debuts to David Luiz, Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe.

Alexandre Lacazette could also make a return from injury, which could see Pepe, Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang line up as a front three for the first time.

However, with tricky games against Liverpool and Tottenham before the international break, Emery may well decide to integrate Ozil and Kolasinac back into the squad at the Emirates this weekend.
