# Details of Leeds’ presentation to win the race for Nketiah revealed

Eddie Nketiah was a wanted man over the summer.

It is believed that more than 25 sides made contact with the Gunners over a season-long loan move for the forward, and hours before the English window shut, three sides were still in the running.

According to [The Athletic’s Phil Hay](https://theathletic.co.uk/1132425/2019/08/15/clubs-had-to-make-dragons-den-style-presentations-to-arsenal-to-try-to-sign-nketiah-on-loan/), officials from Bristol City, Fortuna Dusseldorf and Leeds United were present in London last Wednesday to pitch their ideas.

Nketiah, along with various Arsenal officials, was in the room as Robins boss, Lee Johnson, Fortuna’s sporting director, Lutz Pfannenstiel and Leeds’ director of football, Victor Orta, all attempted to sell the idea of bringing the highly-rated forward to their respective sides.

However, it was Orta and the Whites who came out on top, despite strong pitches from Johnson and Pfannenstiel.

Orta, who knows Unai Emery well from their time at Sevilla, spent an hour pitching Leeds’ plans for the forward, pinpointing the appeal of the club and how Marcelo Bielsa could improve Nketiah during the current campaign.

Leeds’ style of play in and out of possession and how Nketiah would fit into the side were also outlined, and the Gunners, after consideration, decided Elland Road would be the best destination for the forward.

### Read Arsenal verdict

A move to Yorkshire looks to be the best move for striker.

Not only will he be plying his trade under one of the most influential managers in the game, he’ll also be getting a taste of what senior first-team football at Arsenal could be like by turning out in front of a hostile sell-out crowd at Elland Road.

Leeds are also regularly on televison in the Championship, so Nketiah will have the chance to catch the eye around the world in a bid to force his way into Emery’s plans next season.

The youngster netted 43 minutes into his Leeds debut on Tuesday, and everyone associated with both the Whites and the Gunners will be hoping his success can continue over the next nine months.
