# The Winners and Losers in Arsenal’s deal for David Luiz

Arsenal have completed the surprise deadline day signing of David Luiz from Chelsea.

The 32-year-old has reportedly cost the Gunners a fee in the region of £8 million, with the player signing a two-year deal at the Emirates.

Unai Emery admitted in recent days he was hoping to add a central defender to his ranks and turned to the Brazilian on Wednesday after falling in moves for both Juventus’ Daniele Rugani and RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

The European pair were tipped to move to the Premier League as potential successors to Laurent Koscielny, who left for Bordeaux earlier this week.

However, it is Luiz who has joined the club, with a move initially gathering pace after he decided to go on strike at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Luiz could well feature in the club’s opening day fixture against Newcastle United this Sunday. However, before then, we’ve decided to take at the four winners and four losers from the controversial deal.
