Grading Arsenal’s 2019 summer signings

Arsenal had a far better summer transfer window than what was expected, and it was capped by an eventful Deadline Day.

The Gunners were active throughout following their failure to secure a place in the Champions League for the 2019/20 campaign.

Unai Emery has seen his squad significantly improved this summer, with a host of players arriving in North London to help push Arsenal’s charge for a successful second season under his stewardship.

Gabriel Martinelli was recruited to kick the club’s transfer business off before Dani Ceballos joined from Real Madrid on loan. The Gunners beat bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the Spaniard’s signature.

Nicolas Pepe arrived in a club-record deal from LOSC Lille, and William Saliba was also plucked from France, signing from Saint-Etienne before returning to the Ligue 1 club on loan for the season.

Deadline Day was hectic for Arsenal, and they signed two more players. Kieran Tierney arrived from Celtic after a long pursuit from the Gunners, while David Luiz made a surprise move across London from Chelsea.
