Arsenal and Chelsea fans react as Luiz edges towards shock move

Arsenal look set to be on the verge of completing a shock deadline day deal for Chelsea defender David Luiz.

The Brazilian reportedly trained away from the Blues side on Wednesday and will make the move to the Emirates in a deal worth £8 million.

Unai Emery admitted in recent days that he was hoping to bring in a central defender before the window closes, with RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano and Juventus’ Daniele Rugani two players tipped to make the move to London.

However, it appears as if Luiz will make the short trip across London to sign for Arsenal, and the news has sparked a lot of positive reaction on social media with some Gunners supporters.

Although Luiz is edging towards the twilight of his career, an £8 million deal could prove to be an excellent piece of business.

The Brazilian was solid under Maurizio Sarri for the majority of last season, and if he can replicate that form, he could prove to be an ideal partner for Sokratis, providing the Gunners don’t bring in any more central defenders before the close of the window.

He has plenty of Premier League experience, and if he signs, he’d be the only member of the Arsenal side to have tasted success in England’s top competition.

With Kieran Tierney also expected to join the club, the pair’s late arrival should give Gunners fans plenty of optimism ahead of the new season.
