Laurent Koscielny has ended his nine-year association with Arsenal to join Bordeaux.
The Gunners received a fee in the region of £4.5 million for the wantaway centre-back, who let’s say, didn’t exactly leave on the best of terms.
He refused to head on the club’s pre-season tour last month, angering Unai Emery, who finally granted the player his wish of a return to France.
And Arsenal legend Ian Wright was quick to slam the defender, claiming he ‘should be ashamed’ following his recent actions.

Some Arsenal fans joined Wright in hitting out at the experienced defender, who was announced by the Ligue 1 side ripping off an Arsenal shirt to uncover a Bordeaux strip.

In terms of the player leaving, Gunners fans can’t hold that against him. He’s struggled with injuries and consistent performances in past campaigns, and the Premier League now looks a level above.
However, the way he decided to depart the club, who gave him so much over the last nine years, leaves an extremely bitter taste in the mouth.
Koscielny will get what he wants – a return to his home country and regular game time for a mediocre Ligue 1 side. But over time, I think he’ll regret his actions from this summer, which has certainly left a sour feeling around the Emirates regarding his departure.
As they say, time is a healer. However, it may take Arsenal supporters some time to get over the player’s actions this summer, which has resulted in him leaving on bad terms with the majority of Gunners supporters, in a transfer which could have been dealt with plenty more efficiency.
