Why Leeds would be the perfect loan destination for Eddie Nketiah

Leeds United are reportedly keeping tabs on Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah ahead of a potential season-long loan move.

Plenty of sides have been tracking the player, and according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, the Whites are now looking at the possibility of making a move for the 20-year-old, with Bristol City also named as suitors for the forward’s services.

The Gunners, who have been unsure over whether or not to loan Nketiah out, now look set to allow the youngster the chance to gain some valuable first-team experience, and a deal to a Championship side could materialise in the coming days.

If both Bristol City and Leeds make formal offers for the youngster, Arsenal shouldn’t hesitate over the chance to send the forward to Yorkshire over Bristol.

Nketiah would have the chance to work under Marcelo Bielsa, a boss who has helped both Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino during their excellent managerial careers.

A move to Elland Road to work under Bielsa would only hand the youngster the chance to improve on his already impressive game and could see the forward adapt to a variety of formations and positions with ease.

Nketiah certainly has the ability to meet Bielsa’s intense demands, and a season-long loan would only further his development ahead of a likely first-team spot at the Emirates in the future.

With Patrick Bamford currently leading the line for the Whites, Nketiah would have the chance to challenge for a starting spot, as well as having the opportunity to play just in behind Bamford in a creative role.

With Kemar Roofe set to depart for Anderlecht, Nketiah would be guaranteed regular game time in Bielsa’s slim squad, something Arsenal would look to be assured of before granting a deal.

Unai Emery also has a good relationship with Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta during the pair’s time at Sevilla, so if the Whites decide to firm up their interest, a move to Yorkshire could well prove to be the best deal for all involved.
