Centre-backs who Arsenal should target following Koscielny’s exit

Laurent Koscielny has left Arsenal for Bordeaux, and with just days remaining of this summer’s transfer window, it would be wise to sign a replacement.

The Gunners do, in truth, need a new centre-back as it is. William Saliba was a fantastic signing, but he will be playing his football at Saint-Etienne on loan this season.

Unai Emery’s side were excellent in the final third last season and proved to be a force to be reckoned with against most teams in the Premier League. At the other end of the pitch, however, they were nothing short of horrendous.

Arsenal conceded more goals than any other club in the division’s top six, and as such, their hopes of Champions League qualification were surrendered.

With Koscielny heading back to France to play for Bordeaux, the Gunners are looking a little short when it comes to central defensive options, with the Premier League season beginning this weekend.
