Arsenal finished their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Spanish giants Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
Unai Emery’s men gave a good account of themselves but fell short due to lack of decision-making at the back, that continues to be their Achilles heel.
In a first half where both teams struggled to dominate the other, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang produced a moment of quality in the 36th minute to give the Gunners the lead.
When Mesut Ozil found the striker at the edge of the Barcelona box, he turned a defender and lashed in a shot, leaving the keeper with no chance.
Things became trickier after the break, with the home side starting to dominate the possession and pin Arsenal back.
However, they didn’t create a lot of clear-cut chances until Ainsley Maitland-Niles gifted them a goal with a horrendous back pass.
Then, in the 90th minute, Luis Suarez lost his marker, made a run in behind and scored the winner for the Catalan side.
All in all, in terms of overall performance, Emery would be happy with the way his team played. However, defensively, the Spaniard will be worried going into the season.
