Sheffield United keen on Chambers loan – should Arsenal let him go?

Sheffield United are eyeing up a loan move for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers – should the club keep him?

According to The Mirror, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is keen on a deal for Chambers and has already enquired about a possible move.

Chambers spent last season on loan to Fulham in the Premier League, as the London club finished 19th and were relegated back to the Championship.

But, should Arsenal let him go?

With just over four days left to go in the transfer window, Arsenal may not be able to afford the exit of another defender in their squad.

Arsenal are yet to make a signing to bolster their first-team defence next season, despite glaring issues at the back last term which cost Unai Emery’s side a place in the Champions League.

Chambers is capable of playing at right-back, centre-back or in holding midfield and still has plenty of potential – at just 24-years-old – which means he can only improve from now.

The former Southampton man could push on and make a mark in Arsenal’s first-team next season, if given the chance, but it will all depend on what the club do in terms of incomings over the next few days.

If Emery can bring in a new central defender to bolster his squad, he will be able to greenlight a move for Chambers to Sheffield United. If not, then Chambers need to stay at The Emirates.
