Arsenal are reportedly set to open talks over a deal to sign Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho on loan – should they be focusing on defensive signings?
According to BeINSports, via Sky Sports, Arsenal are looking to bring Coutinho in on a loan deal, with an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
The report claims that Barcelona are open to letting Coutinho leave on loan, as they look to fund a deal for PSG forward Neymar this month.

Should Arsenal be focusing on defensive signings?
Yes. Arsenal’s glaring problem last season was their inability to keep clean sheets and, well, defend. There were far too many individual errors and costly mistakes at the back, yet the club do not appear to be in the market to change that this summer.
So far, Arsenal have signed Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos to slot straight into their first-team, although they have signed teenage defender William Saliba – who has been sent back on loan to Saint Etienne.
Arsenal are in desperate need of a central defender and seem to be pursuing more forward options in the market, with under a week left before the end of the transfer window.
It looks like it is going to be a case of having to score three goals a game next season for Arsenal to win in the Premier League, unless they can pull a deal for a central defender out of the bag in the final few days.
