Derby agree deal for Bielik – should Arsenal be selling him?

Derby County have agreed a fee with Arsenal for defender Krystian Bielik – should the club be selling him?

According to Telegraph journalist John Percy, Derby have agreed a potential club-record fee for Bielik, who is now due for talks and a medical with the Championship side.

Bielik spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan to Charlton in League One, shining as a defensive midfielder as they won promotion to the Championship, via the play-offs.

But, should Arsenal be selling him?

The 21-year-old may have only been playing in League One last season, yet his performances showed that he is capable of playing at a much higher level.

With Arsenal’s need for defensive reinforcements, should they be looking to keep hold of him? Yes.

Bielik was simply brilliant for Charlton and it comes as no surprise that a top Championship club like Derby are willing to break their transfer record to sign him.

He could easily play a part for Arsenal next season, either as a central defender or as a holding midfielder. With Europa League football and the cup competitions, there would be plenty of chances for Unai Emery to make use of him and look to develop his game.

Instead, he appears to be closing in on a move to Derby and could be a Premier League player this time next year if they secure promotion next season.
