Manchester United have reportedly had a bid turned down by Benfica for Arsenal target Ruben Dias – should the Gunners now try their luck with their own offer?
According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, cited by Sports Witness, the Red Devils have failed in their initial attempt to sign the star defender.
The report doesn’t reveal what fee was offered to the Portuguese giants, however, it was certainly below the player’s €66 million release clause.
Arsenal themselves have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old over the past seven days, so should they now attempt to sign the Portugal international?

The youngster has caught the eye of several clubs around Europe this summer after some dominant displays at the heart of the defence last season.
And even though he isn’t the finished product just yet, he would certainly be a better option over the Gunners’ current centre-back options.
With William Saliba loaned back to Saint Etienne after signing for the north London outfit, Unai Emery is still short of quality options at the back for the upcoming campaign.
A move for Dias would improve Arsenal’s backline, however, with a proposed £72 million move for winger Nicolas Pepe edging towards completion, the Gunners may struggle to meet Benfica’s requirements.
If the Gunners can reach an agreement with Benfica, Dias, who still has plenty of years to improve on his already impressive game, could become the latest marquee arrival at the Emirates.
