Nicolas Pepe’s move to Arsenal is a ‘done deal’ according to some reports in France, so where does he rank among the club’s best signings in recent years?
Reports from Yahoo Sport, as cited by Get French Football claim that a deal is done, with the Ivorian winger poised to join the Gunners this summer.
This can be considered as a major coup for Arsenal and suddenly a transfer window full of despair is now looking very positive after all.
Since the end of last season fans have been filled with reports of a ‘limited budget’, but the club have done tremendously well to secure the signing of Pepe.

Not only have they secured a fantastic player who is coming off the bench of a simply stunning season in Ligue 1, but they have also beaten a whole host of top European clubs to his signature, without the lure of Champions League football that would have been on offer elsewhere.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich had all been linked with Pepe, but it looks like he’ll be playing his football in London next season.
While many will point towards someone like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the biggest name or the most high-profile signing in recent years, but when you consider Arsenal’s current position, the stature of the other teams that were interested, this is a truly remarkable deal for the club and should be considered as one of their best moves in the transfer market in recent years.
