Real Madrid forward and reported Arsenal target Mariano Diaz has reaffirmed his desire to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, is this a good thing for the Gunners?
The 25-year striker, who is also reportedly a transfer target for Tottenham and Monaco, dismissed links to Arsenal earlier this month, declaring he intended on remaining with Real Madrid.
Mariano returned to Madrid last summer after the club activated a buy-back clause, with the forward having impressed the season prior for Lyon in France. Now back in the Spanish capital, Mariano isn’t keen on leaving the club, despite learning about his limited role.
According to Goal, Mariano has been made aware that his role with Madrid will be limited this season, with the Spaniard behind both Karim Benzema and new summer signing Luka Jovic in the pecking order.

However, Mariano is adamant that he can still be a success for Los Blancos, and is determined to stay and earn his place in the starting line-up.
Arsenal don’t have an abundance of cash flow to spend this summer, especially if they do intend on pursuing Wilfried Zaha further before the window closes. Mariano is a talented player, but as someone who only scored three goals in 13 league games last season, the Gunners could be best suited looking elsewhere.
I still maintain that Arsenal need to focus on strengthening their defensive options, with new signing William Saliba having returned to Saint-Etienne on loan. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal don’t need to be focusing on bringing a third striker to the club when they have so many defensive frailties.
