Arsenal are reportedly pursuing a deal for Gremio star Everton Soares, but just why would he be a clever signing for the club?
The Gunners have been devoid of naturally gifted wide options for some time now. Alex Iwobi played to a reasonably high standard last term, but there was little to get excited about.
Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe present intriguing options for the future, but the burden cannot be placed upon the two youngsters to take the mantle and drive Arsenal back to the Champions League next season.

As such, the Gunners need to find themselves a winger who possesses game-winning qualities and has the traits necessary to push them on to the next level.
Everton has displayed these credentials and fits the bill. He enjoyed a fantastic season in his homeland of Brazil and was even more impressive in his national team’s Copa America campaign.
According to claims from Globo Esporte, Edu – who was recently installed as Arsenal’s new technical director – has been in negotiations with the player’s agent as he attempts to secure a deal for the winger.
And it is easy to see why. Everton enjoyed what can be considered a breakthrough tournament this summer, with numerous European clubs now interested in landing him.

The 23-year-old was excellent in Copa America and was arguably the competition’s most impressive player. His marauding runs and intricate passing helped Brazil string moves together, and in one-on-one situations, he regularly got the better of his opposing full-back.
These technical qualities have been missing on the flanks for the Gunners, and it is without a doubt that Everton would enhance the options at Unai Emery’s disposal.
At a potentially cheaper fee than what would be spent on signing Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace, a move for the Gremio star makes perfect sense for Arsenal.
