Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz is reportedly not interested in a move to Arsenal this summer, despite being offered to the club, so what does this say for the Gunners?

The 25-year old has failed to live up to expectations at the Santiago Bernabeu this re-signing last season, having excelled in France with Lyon.

The former Dominican Republic international scored 18 goals in 34 Ligue 1 games in his first full season in France, before Madrid brought him back to the Spanish capital the following summer.

However after just three goals in 13 La Liga games last season, the Spanish giants are keen to offload the forward, with Arsenal reportedly offered the chance to sign him in a cut-price £18million deal.

Despite not being in Zinedine Zidane’s plans, Diaz is keen to remain at the club to fight for his place, as reported by Mirror Sport

With Arsenal desperate to sign a forward this summer, Diaz seems like an attractive prospect on paper. However, if the striker isn’t keen on a switch to the Premier League, the Gunners would be best suited to look elsewhere.

Arsenal will struggle this summer because of their mediocre budget, at least for a club of their size. Having already struggled to land Wilfried Zaha, it doesn’t bode well for the club’s transfer hopes moving forward.

However with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the club, the Gunners have enough firepower for now if they can land some cheaper or loan players to support them. But without more investment in the transfer budget, it is difficult to imagine Arsenal landing the men they want this summer.
