Arsenal target Dan-Axel Zagadou has informed Borussia Dortmund he wants to leave the club this summer – so should the Gunners now firm up their interest?

According to German outlet Bild, cited by the Daily Mirror, the talented French defender is keen on a move away from the club after they re-signed Mats Hummels in a big money move from Bayern Munich.

The Gunners have been linked with numerous exciting young defenders this summer, with Unai Emery desperate to shake up his defence ahead of the new season.

There is no doubting the Frenchman would be an excellent signing. Zagadou made 17 appearances in the Bundesliga last season and impressed with his composed presence and intelligent play at the back.

The 20-year-old also has some Champions League experience and appears to have a maturity which looks likely to take him to the very top.

Dortmund will reportedly demand a fee in the region of £27m for Zagadou, and with Emery having £45m available to him, the Spaniard may well to decide to look at alternative options.

The North London outfit could do far worse than bringing the Dortmund star to the Emirates Stadium, however, due to the high price, the Gunners could decide to pursue other targets for the time being.
