Arsenal offer Ozil to Turkish clubs – Would he be a big miss?

Arsenal have reportedly offered out midfielder Mesut Ozil to a number of Turkish sides this summer.

According to Calcio Mercato, Arsenal have asked Fenerbahce, Istanbul Basaksehir and Galatasaray if they would like to sign the German ahead of next season.

The report claims that Arsenal are willing to pay a portion of his wages for the first couple of seasons he spends away from the club, so to free up more funds for Unai Emery to spend this window.

But would Ozil be a big miss for Arsenal next season? Despite his undoubted talent, the answer is no.

Ozil was once regarded as one of the best, if not the best, playmakers in the world, having impressed in Spain at Real Madrid.

He is now a shell of the player he once was and endured a frustrating 2018/19 campaign with the Gunners – contributing to just seven goals in 25 Premier League appearances.

Previously dubbed the “assist king”, Ozil managed to provide two assists in the league last season and missed far too many games with, what appeared to be, minor injuries.

Arsenal would be better off cashing in on Ozil and signing a player to replace him who better fits the style of play Emery wants to employ at The Emirates during his reign.
