Arsenal have reportedly been offered Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie in a potential swap deal for Lucas Torreira, but would this represent a good deal for the Gunners?
According to Corriere dello Sport, as cited on Calcio Mercato, the San Siro outfit could offer the player in return in an attempt to sweeten the deal this summer.
It is claimed that Torreira will push for a move back to Italy, so Arsenal can consider getting a player in return as something of a silver lining.
Kessie is a player that was highly rated in Italy prior to his move to Milan, where things haven’t quite gone right for him so far.
There are certainly worse players that Arsenal could get in return, but Kessie’s arrival would be a risk.
While not the out-and-out defensive-minded midfielder that the Gunners are craving, Kessie would be able to offer something different alongside the likes of Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park.
His seven league goals also represent a good return and it is worth remembering that Arsenal also have to try and replace Aaron Ramsey this summer.
Losing Torreira would certainly be a bigger problem and Arsenal should do all they can to keep the South American midfielder, but getting Kessie in return would soften the blow somewhat.
