# Arsenal linked with £18m-rated Bourigeaud – but is he worth it?

Arsenal are among the teams interested in signing Rennes’ Benjamin Bourigeaud, with Chelsea, Liverpool, United and Spurs also keen – but is this a deal to avoid for the Gunners?

According to Spanish outlet [Estadio Deportivo](https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/sevilla/2019/06/22/bourigeaud-piensa-opciones/230835.html), [as cited on the Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1144334/Liverpool-transfer-news-Benjamin-Bourigeaud-Arsenal-Man-Utd-Tottenham-Chelsea-rumours), all five Premier League teams have taken a fancy to the player.

The Gunners would have enjoyed an up close and personal look at the player during their Europa League clash with the French side last season, meaning Unai Emery will know exactly what sort of player he could be getting.

At the reported £18m, the Gunners could certainly afford him and he would be a cheaper option than some of the fees being floated around this summer.

Six league goals and five assists in 28 starts last season represent a modest return and at 25, Bourigeaud should be about to approach his peak years.

With 10 goals in the 2017/18 season, Bourigeaud has enjoyed a couple of strong seasons in Ligue 1, but is he really ready to contend for a first-team spot in the Premier League?

It looks like this would be no more than a squad depth option and at the reported £18m, Arsenal should consider reinvesting this money elsewhere over the summer to address more important issues within their squad.
