Is Ziyech the answer to Arsenal’s creative woes?
Arsenal have been severely lacking a creative spark in midfield for some time now and despite turning to the German World Cup winner Mesut Ozil, things have never really seemed to improve or turn a corner.
When Ozil arrived at the Emirates as a former Real Madrid playmaker, a player who had already achieved such an illustrious career with a vast array of trophies, not to mention clinching various top assist awards in the Bundesliga, La Liga, and the World Cup, it’s fair to say he has never really lived up to the hype and made his mark at the Emirates.
With the lack of creativity becoming a persistent problem for Arsenal, should they turn their attention to the Ajax playmaker, Hakim Ziyech?
Ziyech is entering the peak years of his career at 26 and coming off the back of an absolutely astonishing season with Ajax. The creative playmaker won 11 Man of the Match awards in the Eredivisie last season, contributing 16 assists and 19 goals in all competitions for his club. His performances helped Ajax win the league and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Ziyech has reportedly made it very known that Arsenal has always been a team he has dreamed to play for, and with a reported release clause of just £25 million, could he be the key to unlocking the Gunners’ creative woes?
Like Ozil, Ziyech has also won his fair share of awards, including the most assists for the last four seasons in Dutch football, included in the team of the year for the last three seasons, and not to mention being named Dutch Footballer of the Year for 2018.
The statistics speak for themselves, Ziyech would be a huge addition to any squad, and with a modest release clause and the player expressing a clear desire to play at the Emirates, this is one talent the Gunners cannot afford to let slip through their fingers.
