Arsenal initiate contact for Eibar’s Jordan – but would a deal be worth pursuing?

Arsenal have reportedly initiated contact for Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan – but should the Gunners rival West Ham for the 24-year-old?

According to Spanish outlet Marca, via Sport Witness, the Gunners have made contact with Eibar over a possible deal, whereas the Hammers have submitted an offer for the Spaniard. 

There looks set to be a huge summer shake-up at the Emirates Stadium this summer, with defence and midfield two areas Unai Emery will be desperate to strengthen in. 

Jordan enjoyed a solid season in La Liga, scoring four times and providing a further four assists in 34 league appearances and could be available for just €10m. 

If this is the case, a deal for Jordan could be worth exploring, with the midfielder having plenty of years ahead of him to improve and mature. 

Jordan could prove to be a suitable replacement for Aaron Ramsey, with the Spaniard capable of playing as an advanced playmaker, central midfielder or in a deep-lying role. 

The ability to create and break down play is something which Emery desperately needs next season, so the Gunners may kick themselves if they miss out on the talented midfielder available at a relatively low fee this summer.
