# Partey keen on Premier League switch – but would he be right for Arsenal?

Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League – but are the Gunners right to target the midfielder?

According to [calciomercato.com](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/atletico-thomas-apre-all-addio-il-padre-sogna-la-premier-86107), Partey is free to leave the La Liga giants this summer, and the midfielder’s father admitted he would be open to a Premier League move.

The Gunners, who have been tipped to sign the midfielder, have recently been told they [must fork out £43.5m](https://readarsenal.com/2019/05/26/arsenal-quoted-43-5m-for-partey-should-they-spend-big-to-sign-him/) to land the Ghanian this summer, but there is no doubting a player of Partey’s quality would improve Unai Emery’s current options in the middle of the park.

Partey could prove to be the Patrick Vieira figure Arsenal have been craving for the past 15 years.

The midfielder presents a towering figure, can break up play and has caught the eye with his range of passing over recent seasons.

The 25-year-old would provide fierce competition to the likes of Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira next season and would put out a real state of intent across Europe.

So with Partey unsettled in Spain and seemingly favouring a Premier League move, Arsenal should do everything they can to secure his services over the summer, which could ultimately play a huge role in how the Gunners cope next season.
