# Arsenal Player Ratings: Brighton (H)

Arsenal’s top four hopes are all but over after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton and Hove Albion at the Emirates stadium.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Glenn Murray converted penalties for their respective teams in a game of missed opportunities.

Unai Emery’s men began the game well and won a penalty in the ninth minute when Alireza Jahanbakhsh was adjudged to have fouled Nacho Monreal, even though he got the ball first.

Aubameyang stepped up to take the spot-kick and slotted his effort past Mathew Ryan with certainty.

Brighton came back into it by sitting deep, playing on the counter and looking to exploit any mistake occurring from the Arsenal back line.

The mistake was eventually committed in the 61st minute when Granit Xhaka clumsily fouled Solly March in the box. Murray stepped up and coolly tucked his penalty beyond Bernd Leno.

Arsenal then went for the winner and created plenty of chances, but Ryan made a series of good saves. Aubameyang missed a sitter from seven yards to sum the day up.

Amidst all that, Brighton could have taken all three points. However, Leno made a fine save from March’s effort, and Pascal Gross skewed the rebound into the corner flag when the goal was gaping for him.

All in all, it was a disappointing outing for Arsenal, whose Champions League hopes now rest on winning the Europa League.

Here are our player ratings from the draw against Brighton.
