Arsenal are being heavily linked with a move to sign Lyon striker and former Celtic man Moussa Dembele, but would he be an upgrade on what the Gunners already have available to them?
French outlet L’Equipe claims that the Gunners have been scouting the player this season ahead of the summer transfer window.
A move for Dembele, who has scored 18 goals in all competitions for Lyon this season, would certainly excite supporters, but it poses several questions for manager Unai Emery.

Is Dembele an upgrade on either Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang? Where does Emery fit him into the side, if at all?
The Spaniard has often struggled to get both Lacazette and Aubameyang in the same starting XI this season. He has either been forced to go with a three-man defence or shoehorn Aubameyang in out wide.
Compared to Lacazette, Dembele would offer more to Arsenal’s general link-up play in and around the box.
Emery has shown he is not afraid of rotating his squad and if the Gunners are looking to get back into the Champions League and be competitive then they’ll need a certain element of squad depth.
Given that Dembele is hardly going to come cheaply, Arsenal should approach with caution. He’s not a player that will directly improve their starting XI, but it must be said that Dembele’s best years are ahead of him and if they can secure his signature this summer, it could be a great move from Emery and Arsenal in the long run.
