It wasn’t the most exciting of performances, but Arsenal did just enough to move into third place in the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United.
Arsenal had a goal controversally disallowed in the 13th minute, when Aaron Ramsey’s close range effort was ruled out after Sokratis pulled on the shirt of Florian Lejeune in the build up.
Ramsey would open the scoring in the 30th minute with a deft left foot finish after linking up well with Alexandre Lacazette.
Matt Ritchie dramatically cleared the ball off the line in first half injury time to deny Lacazette the chance to double Arsenal’s lead.
The second half was lacklustre with both sides creating very few chances between them, but Lacazette eventually did get his goal that sealed the win for Arsenal with eight minutes remaining, with a beautiful chip over Martin Dubravka.
Here are four findings from tonight’s match.
