Arsenal battered Bournemouth 5-1 at the Emirates to stay fourth in the table and look in good stead to challenge for a top-four finish.

Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Laurent Koscielny, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were the goalscorers for the Gunners, who were just rampant on the night. The Cherries had one via Lys Mousset, but that didn’t have any bearing on the outcome of this game.

The home side took the lead in the fourth minute when Ozil found himself in plenty of space in the box. The German then had a simple task of lobbing the ball over the Bournemouth keeper into the back of net.

The aforementioned scorer turned provider Mkhitaryan 23 minutes later to push the team into a driving position.

A defensive mistake from Matteo Guendouzi, who held onto the ball long enough to allow Dan Gosling to pinch it and setup Mousset’s simple finish in the 30th minute.

The Cherries’ hopes of a comeback vanished early in the second half, when Koscielny slammed home following a set-piece move in the 47th minute. 12 minutes later, Aubameyang raced clear of the visitors’ defence and scored another goal.

Lacazette put the icing on the cake 12 minutes from time with a sublime free-kick as Arsenal warm up for Saturday’s north London derby at Wembley.
