Arsenal carried out a professional job as they defeated Southampton 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners headed into the game on the back of a comprehensive 3-0 victory against BATE Borisov on Thursday, which saw them ease into the Europa League’s round of 16, where they will take on Ligue 1 side Rennes.
Southampton, meanwhile, were out to cause an upset as they aimed to drag themselves out of the Premier League’s relegation zone.
No such fortune was granted to the visitors, however, as Unai Emery saw his side comfortably outdo Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men with a clean sheet and a victory.
Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring after only six minutes, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan doubled his side’s advantage in the 17th minute after some calamitous defending from Southampton.
It was a straightforward win for the Gunners, but they will be delighted with their efforts as they sit in fourth place on the Premier League table.
Here are four findings from the match.
